Terms & Conditions





1 A binding contract is only entered into when Avon Leisure Cruises Ltd has issued a Confirmation of Booking.  This takes place after we have received a formal booking and deposit. The organiser accepts responsibility on behalf of all members of the party.


2  Payments– A non-refundable deposit of £50 per private hire booking is required and £50 for Group Cruises.  Full payment is required for bookings 14 days prior to the event and is only refundable if the company cancels the cruise.  This does not apply to public schedule boat trips.


3 Cancellations by you – Cancellation by yourselves must be confirmed in writing and cancellation charges will apply to the maximum as set out below.


More than 30 days – deposit

Less than 30 days – 50% of total hire and catering

Less than 10 days – 100% of total hire and catering


4 Cancellation by Avon Leisure Cruises Ltd – We reserve the right to cancel your booking at any time and provide you with a full refund less an administration charge of £12. Occasionally we have to cancel the operation of a vessel arising from circumstances beyond our control, the consequences of which we cannot avoid.  Examples are riots, terrorist activity, industrial disputes, lock delays, natural disaster, fire or adverse weather or river conditions or other similar events.


5    Alterations by you– We will do our best to make any alterations you may require after confirmation has been issued subject to any payment of any increased costs relevant to the change.  We require final payment, party numbers, menu requirements and alterations 14 days prior to hire date.


6 Refusal of booking– we reserve the unconditional right, to refuse a booking, or to prevent a person from being carried in the event of conduct, which is likely to cause distress, damage or annoyance to passengers, employees, and property or to a third party.


7 Conduct on board the vessel– The skipper of the vessel shall be in sole charge throughout the duration of the hire and you and all members of your party will comply with the lawful commands of the skipper and his crew. You and all members of your party must conduct themselves properly at all times whilst on board and must take account of their own safety and that of other passengers.  You will be liable to us for any damage caused to a vessel or any of the vessels fixtures and fittings. Any unreasonable conduct or behaviour persons concerned will be asked to disembark at the earliest opportunity. 


8   Clients own food and drink - Neither you nor members of your part may take on board any food, alcohol or other beverages; such items may only be consumed on a vessel if arranged by us.  No musical entertainment is to take place unless otherwise arranged.


9   Conditions of sale of alcohol – It is a criminal offence for a person under the age of 18 to attempt to purchase alcohol or consume alcohol on board.  It is also an offence for a member of the party to order alcoholic drinks for a person less than 18 years of age particularly when ordering wine for the table it is the responsibility of the organiser. Identification may be necessary and we reserve the right to refuse to serve alcohol.


10 Passengers with disabilities– You should advise us when making the booking of the number of fixed wheelchair users embarking on the cruise.  Disabled access by way of lifts is accessible to all on board Spirit of Freedom on Avon.


11  Final payment is based on the number of passengers and menu requirements advised 14 days prior to hire, please do not embarrass our on board staff on day of cruise.  Queries should be raised through our admin office.  Thank you.
